Who are we?

For the past four years the Bauer Selects has succeeded at being the elite training program for advanced hockey players looking to be pushed in a very professional training environment.  No other program has helped players earn Division I college scholarships or added players to the United States National Development Program and USAH’s National Teams then the Nike Bauer Selects.   In the past three years alone we have helped place 28 players from our Bauer Selects 91’s, 92’s, 93’s and 94’s on hockey scholarships and another 12 with the USNDP in Ann Arbor.  A total of 6 players (4 in the second round) who either played or trained with the Bauer Selects were selected in the 2009 NHL Player Draft.  This inaugural roster of players won Prospects and the Montreal Cup – which showed the depth and breadth of talent this group possessed. Our philosophy is simple; we will put you in the most professional training environment with the best players and coaches.  This is done for one reason, to give you the experience of training with the best in order for you to accomplish all of your goals!

How are players selected?

It is very possible that you have never heard of the Bauer Selects.  It may seem strange to you, but it is normal for us. In fact, it is the way we chose to operate.  The Bauer Selects do not hold tryouts (which are fund raisers in most cases) because we select our athletes based on the homework our National Staff conducts, the recommendations of other coaches, athletes and hockey professionals, we take the initiative to contact those players. We do not extend an open invitation to just anyone who wants to participate with us. The Bauer program is a select group of elite hockey players that represent their team, clubs, and countries, and we choose to invite only those we feel will do this with the class, integrity and character of a true athlete.

Player recommendations are based not only on hockey ability, but also on depth of character, leadership ability, and scholastic efforts. In the simplest of terms, someone somewhere has seen your son who is recognized as an outstanding athlete. What the Bauer Selects does is provide them with an opportunity to achieve these goals and objectives listed below;

Goals:

  • Identify talented hockey players between 9 and 16 years old.

  • Identify and work on deficiencies in skill factors that can be determined through interaction with Bauer Selects national staff coaches. These deficiencies will be reported to both the athlete and the parent for remedial work.

  • Enhance the flow of information and educational opportunities to talented athletes, their parents and their coaches in an effort to help improve the athlete's training.

Objectives:

  • Identify and notify athletes, coaches and parents of the inherent talent possessed by a young hockey player. This will help all involved in making intelligent decisions regarding the serious pursuit of the player's training and opportunities.

  • Assist the player and family in the development of these young athletes through enhanced access to the best authorities available, in addition to other training and performance opportunities.

  • Serve as a "fast track" for talented hockey players from the early years of training advance through the junior/college/pro and international level.

  • Enhance early preparation of skills and abilities that will be needed for a higher level of competition for more years in the future.

  • Identify deficiencies in training and health that can be remedied by early and expert intervention.

  • Provide a truly unique elite program for all players.

The Bauer Selects Program is committed to work with and showcase the future elite hockey players and no other spring/summer organization provides the foundation we do for elite athlete development.  In addition, the Bauer Selects believe in making certain that all parents have the chance to shadow their son throughout the program.  This means that parents are invited to attend the college weekend classroom sessions and follow their son through each activity as they train within our program.

Last Word…

We would like to re-iterate that we do not send out mass email letters to hundreds of players.  There are several other programs that operate in the spring/summer who put their own spin on Invitation Letters and fill their events/tournaments with different team rosters for every event.  This sort of obtuse “invitation” can be heartening but also confusing, leaving players/parents to wonder, “whose in or whose not?”  The Bauer Selects is not a random process and we work hard on identifying the players we wish to participate. To the highest degree possible, we require that ALL the players who participate in our program take part in all of our events.  Our hope of course is to gain a measure of stability with the various teams and work with the same players on a consistent basis.

If you would like your son to be considered for acceptance into the Bauer Selects Program please fill out the application link on this site no later then December 4th, 2009.  All players will be notified of acceptance by no later than December 18, 2009.  Notification will be provided to the player via an email letter addressed to the parents.

Thank you for your interest in the Bauer Selects!
